'Art is All Around Us: Downtown' is the first in a series of programs to be produced by HoustonPBS that will feature public art found throughout the City of Houston. Downtown was chosen for the premiere because of the abundance of public art in a concentrated area; future episodes will radiate from the heart of the city to points north, south, east and west; and it is the hub and "gem" of public transportation, particularly with Metro light rail.

Downtown Houston has a remarkable array of works of art and historic artifacts, some by world-famous names, others by unknowns, but all worth seeing. This self-guided public art tour (pdf 2 mb) will help visitors and locals alike plan a route of the street sites and buildings where the artworks are displayed.
Items are listed by number and location. Unless noted, all locations are outdoors. Interior locations are available for viewing primarily during normal business hours.
