Buffalo Bayou

See downtown from a whole new angle!! Buffalo Bayou is perfect for canoeing and kayaking. Whether your destination is Sesquicentennial Park or Allen’s Landing, the bayou wharfs make take out very easy.
Always be careful, bring life preservers for everyone and make sure someone on land knows where you are. Water in the bayou can rise extremely rapidly – even on cloudless days – because the headwaters are controlled by a dam. Please be sure you are familiar with all exit areas in case you have to get out early.
A top priority of the Buffalo Bayou Partnership is to build trails on the north and south banks of Buffalo Bayou from Shepherd Drive to the Turning Basin. These wonderful trails give Houstonians and our visitors 20 miles of trails to run, walk and bike along the water.
