With Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center, and the expanded Convention Center, the eastern edge of downtown Houston is being transformed into a sporting and entertainment mecca. In March 2000 Enron Field, now called Minute Maid Park, was completed, and the 40,950-seat, retractable roof stadium drew more than three million visitors in the opening year. The Harris County Houston Sports Authority's Toyota Center, which opened in September 2003, is home to the Rockets (NBA), Comets (WNBA) and the Aeros (IHL) as well as host for other smaller sporting events and concerts.
