Festivals and special events in downtown Houston attract a wide variety of visitors, from young families to the Children’s Festival to sporting enthusiasts to the Grand Prix, to culinary connoisseurs for the Great Tastes of Houston event.
Current and projected attendance levels for major special events in downtown Houston are outlined below. As noted, the City of Houston is set to host Super Bowl XXXVIII on February 1, 2004 and the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in July 2004. Both will draw large numbers of extra visitors and residents to downtown Houston (the Super Bowl will be played at the Reliant Stadium at Reliant Park – old Astrodome complex, but the NFL Experience and other events will be held downtown).
