The many private and public sector entertainment and other projects, many of which have been recently completed, have strengthened the critical mass of theater, sporting, convention, and special events in downtown Houston, creating stronger demand for visitors and longer duration visits. In fact, the Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau announced on July 14, 2004 that hotel bookings for the next three years are up 45%.
